Snake Dance Lamp |
The Snake Dance is designed to enhance organic forms within the living environment. The snake acts to magnify plant details and insects that would be otherwise overlooked. This symbolic representation was inspired by an emotional experience of coming into close contact with a Taipan snake in the Australian outback at dusk. The concept is based on research that indicates that people connected to the natural environment enjoy greater mental health. Traditional Australian Indigenous peoples live a symbiotic existence, assigned an animal spirit at birth and thus interconnected with the environment, thus to harm the environment is to harm the self.
The Lamp is recharged during the day via solar panels incorporated into the design. The lamp itself utilises ultra efficient LED and is fabricated by handmade recycled glass formed by talented based glass artist Lucy Wade.
